I have been writing short stories set in Icleand and listening to the evocative and haunting band Sigur Ros. I have seen them twice in concert and was mesmerized and stirred as if in a sacred place.. Sigur Ros seems to be a down to earth Icelandic band that may not be all that connected to the
wild magic their music portends. In an interview they did not explore the magic. Itt may be enough to just live and
breathe in Iceland. Perhaps it is the magic each of us can bring into life if we allow the great mystery, the Mysterium Magnum, a great deal of
spaciousness to move through the
vehicles thatwe are. when I last heard Sigur Ros in concert- loved there were no English words, and was intrigued to learn that
the Icelandic words were quite often entirely made up. (imagined, remembered, mysteriously touched into life). What this evoked was a land that was new and called me into something very powerful. Perhaps the ancient words that were mixed with the non sense were luminoius rune poems re imagined and nascent. This creativity I find evokes wisdom in the same way the Tarot Fool does, in the Scintillating Intelligence.. When when young I thought that all artists needed to be vitally alive on all levels.
NOW I am amazed when someone is. I am definitely intrigued when I am deeply moved by music that evokes something that perhaps those that create it are not yet fully aware. Then again they may be immersed in Icelandic lullaby or alibi in another world and letting that world enter this world and this soon to be third quarter moon..beyond and in the liminal spaces
between star lore and lairds of old. and NEW.
