Have your protagonist work for an Alchemist who has never been alive and has a strong desire for the best wine.Have the protagonist be someone who doesn't drink and yet is absolutely consumed with desire to learn what this Alchemist offers

.have the protagonist be dating someone who likes wine alot and after the third glass begins to speak in Alchemical Recipes.have the third alchemical recipe each night hold the key to something that has to do with "separating the subtle from the dense sweetly with great ingenuity."from Emerald Tablet
